The baptism with the holy spirit is of great essence in our Christian life. The devil is aware of his importance and he tries to prevent the believer from his blessed experience by objection to its veracity by many theologians. Many are claiming that we don’t need this today and that it is not scriptural.
However, we shall be looking inti the scripture which is our final authority on matter of life and practice to discover what it says on this issue.
- The word ‘Baptize’ is Greek. Means to e submerged, dipped under, filled, saturated, drunk, drenched. To be baptized with the holy spirit that means that one is possessed, filled, saturated, arrayed with God’s spirit and power. Mat. 3:11.
- Baptism with the holy spirit is not known to old testaments saints. The spirit only come upon them for special service he normally left them with exception of some few good ones. E.g. Balaam Num. 24:2; Samson in Jud. 13: 24,25. Gideon Jud. 6: 34; Saul 1 Sam. 10: 6- 13. A special case in the construction and furnishing of the tabernacle. God special filed Bezaleel EO. 1:1-11, moses reactions E. 39:34. S he did to the prophets 11 Pet. 1:21.
