EFFECTIVE MEN, WOMEN & YOUTH MINISTRIES: THE NEED FOR REAL MEN IN TODAY’S CHURCH

In men matters ministry; God has given us the command and burden to reach out to men. He had shown us the scriptural insight into the place importance and power of the man. It is this burden that is leading us to organizing events on men. It is important that the church rediscover the true role of men and start walking to raise true men in the church. The scripture says in John 1:6. There was a man sent from God, whose name is John. God sent a man, not men, boys or youngsters. God needs a real man in every strata of society.

THE NEED FOR REAL MEN IN TODAY’S CHURCH

1. DE-EMPHASIS ON THEM

Over the years, the church has largely neglected ministry to men, with the only exception of very few ministers, there had been wholesale neglect of raising true men by the church.

  1. There are more women ministries than men.
  2. There are much more outreach to children and youths than men.
  3. Men fellowships in churches are only for monetary contribution.
  4. Men’s week are only held annually.
  5. There are much more trouble in churches than women.
  6. Only few men are discipled in the church and by churches.
  7. Mother’s day are much more celebrated than father’s day.

Yet, while women are the beauty of the church, children are the future of the church; men are the true pillars of the church

2. HARD FACTS ABOUT MEN

The church and society is in a life and death battle for the souls of men.

  • There are roughly 50 million men in Nigeria 18 years of age and older.
  • There are more men in the mosque than the church. Muslims lay emphasis on men than the church.
  • Evangelism: Regrettably, 50 million men make no profession of Christ.
  • Up to 45 million men seek out pornography. Adultery is out of control.
  • Christian men and leaders are divorcing as non-Christians.
  • 50% of children from broken homes have not seen their father in over a year.
  • One of every three birth is to an unmarried mother
  • Fatherlessness is the single most important factor in a boy’s likelihood to commit a crime.
  • Nigeria leads Africa in fatherless families.
  • The average Nigeria Christian male is in a hurry to make it and have little regard for his family.
  • Men are addicted to everything from money to secret though lives.
  • Most men will give the best years of their lives to ideas that never had possibility of making them happy.
  • Most men have success sickness: The disease of always wanting more and never being happy when they get it.
  • Most men are tired, restless, confused, lonely, and empty.

From the foregoing we can see that the greatest need we have in Nigeria is to reach our men. The church desperately needs what discipled men have to offer.

3. THE PLACE OF THE MAN

God is pictured as constantly searching for a man, not men. II Chro. 17:9; Ezek. 22:30; Jer. 5:1; Psalmu 8:3-5. The man-matured, discipled, real and godly is much more important to God than anything else.

i. The man is the head of God’s creation.

ii. The man is responsible to God for the world.

iii. God commits His cause to men not boys.

iv. The man is the head of the family.

v. The man makes the church and society.

4. HOW TO AFFECT MEN TODAY

  1. Grow to become a real and discipled man today.
  2. Get discipled as a true man.
  3. Leaders must raise strong men’s ministry in churches.
  4. Desire to reach out to other men.
  5. Befriend and network with other men.
  6. Reach out to other men strategically.
