HOLY SPIRIT AND ANOINTING: ANOINTING AND THE ANOINTED

“But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.” (Psalms 92:10)

“I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:” (Psalms 89:20)

In the last couple of years, the subject of anointing has been bastardized. May teachings have gone out, some good but many are errors concerning this all-important subject. It is time we look at it afresh so as to know what constitutes true anointing and its place in the ministry.

HOLY SPIRIT AND ANOINTING ANOINTING AND THE ANOINTED

If there is any time we need fresh anointing, it is now. The role of the anointing cannot be over emphasized in church growth. No minister can succeed without the anointing. The anointing of the Holy Spirit is the power for result and performance. No one can do pronounced exploit without the anointing. The responsibility of the anointing is to give you power and make you a proof-producer. To function effectively at this end time, we will need to contact fresh anointing from God.

A. Biblical Foundation: Ps. 92:10; 89:20; 1 John 2:20, 27

Anointing can be described as the unction, presence and divine enablement of the Holy Spirit. It enables you to operate in the realm of the supernatural. It also being consecrated for a sacred purpose. It is anointing oil used in setting one apart for Gods usage. Oil is the symbol of the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit anointing therefore is the power, presence and gifts of the Spirit of God in our lives that enable us to be used of God. The anointing oil percolates, smoothen, melts, saturates, strengthen, energizes and preserves. These are what the anointing of the Holy Spirit will do in our lives and ministries.

B. Purpose Of The Anointing:

To change and enable God’s chosen leader
To cause God’s leaders to defeat their enemies – Judges 3:10; 6:34
To bring goodnews to the afflicted
To enable people to perform their ministries to the Lord.
To produce results in the ministry.
For open door and breakthrough – Ps. 89:20-28.
For signs and wonders Isa. 61:1-3.
To destroy the works of the devil.
To empower with gifts for effectiveness.
For promotion and prosperity.

C. The Life Of The Anointed Heb. 1:8,9.

To really flow in the anointing of the Holy Spirit of God, you must realize these facts.
Anointing makes the difference in ministry
Anointing can be lost through sin, negligence and indulgence
Your life must be an open channel for unhindered flow
God will only anoint you for what He has called you to do
Anointing must be kept fresh always
There is always a price to pay to keep the anointing Anointing can grow stale and dried off Ecc. 9:8.
Yesterday’s anointing is not sufficient for today.
Anointing doesn’t make you reckless P Growing anointing can deceive you. else…
More than anointing, you need the Holy Spirit.
You the anointed must be holy, pure, tender and obedient.

Wayward and ungodly lifestyle will not attract God’s true anointing. Some have gone to acquire fake, strange and demonic ‘anointing’ because they cannot pay the price for genuine anointing from God.

D. Dimensions Of The Anointing:

The more consistent and obedient you are to the Lord, the more you can experience these dimensions of anointing in your life.

Magnetic anointing – Matthew 3:1,5
Mobilization anointing – Judges 6:34; Acts 6:1,4.
Promotional anointing – I Sam. 16:13; Luke 4:14-15
Protectional anointing – Judges 15:14-15; 1 Kings 1:8-10.
Provisional anointing – II Kings 4:1-6; Ps. 23:5
Anointing for Favour-1 Sam. 18:16, Luke 4:15.
Everlasting anointing-II Kings 13:20-21.

Where there is Holy Spirit propelled anointing, there can be no annoyance. These levels of anointing are necessary for a resounding success in the ministry. They put the devil where he belongs and place the church as a vanguard of recovery for humanity. Micah 3:8; Zech, 4:6.

E. Keeping the Anointing Fresh:

Be an open channel through Godly living
Be at the centre of God’s will and plan.
Desire to be a continuous blessing
Seek the face of God continually.
Don’t allow anything to block God’s flow
Maintain an open and clean hand and heart.
Take time to wait upon the Lord.
Seek to be used by Him, not you using Him.

You will continue to flow because you are connected to the divine flow.
