To see growth in an appreciable degree, signs and wonders must be taking place in the church. Our Lord Jesus Christ acknowledged signs and wonders essential part of faith when He queried “Will you never believe in me unless you see miraculous signs and wonders?”. We are living in a world that needs signs and wonder due to numerous activities of Satan and his cohorts. We are also living in a time when people will not believe our words without spiritual demonstration of God’s power that can manifest in the physical for mortal men to see.
- Many ministers have different view to the subject of signs and wonders.
- Some don’t believe in it at all.
- Some believed it has gone away with the earlier Apostles.
- Some believed but don’t know how to operate in it.
- Some believed but lack enough faith to see it.
- Very few believe and practice it.
- Some who could not pay the prices for signs and wonders have succumbed to consultation with devils to get power.
- While others have succeeded to magical power. Others have also practiced fake signs and wonders and orchestrated signs and wonders.
This teaching is aimed to establish the fact that signs and wonders still happen today. Because the Bible says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever” (Hebrew 13:8). This teaching also aimed at showing us how to operate in the anointing for signs and wonders. May God increase His power in us as we open up our minds to receive diving information.
SIGNS AND WONDERS DEFINED
- Signs and wonders can be defined as the supernatural working of God in the midst of His people.
- Signs and wonders is the supernatural operations that is beyond human comprehension.
- Signs and wonders is the manifestation of the miraculous.
- Signs and wonders is an outward event with spiritual significance.
THE PURPOSE OF SIGNS AND WONDERS
- To bring about faith in God 14:11; John 20:30 Numbers
- To strengthen faith in God – Joshua 24:16- 17; Romans 4:11
- To confirm a message from God – II Kings 19:28-29; Luke 2:12; Luke 16:20
- To protect God’s people from danger Exodus 12:13
- To bring to mind God’s care and promises Gen. 9:12-16; Exodus 13:7-9; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26. Signs and wonders are also miraculous working of God. So the time signs and wonders and miracles are used interchangeably.
- To designate God’s messengers Exodus 4:1-9; | Kings 17:17-24; II Kings 1:10-12.
- To punish sinners – Genesis 19:24-26; Numbers 16:28-35
