HOLY SPIRIT AND ANOINTING: HOLY SPIRIT IN THE LIFE AND MINISTRY OF OUR LORD

God the father is distinct and personal, so also God the son and spirit, yet they are ne and inseparable.

The holy spirit was prominent in the earthly life of Christ. Christ lived, thought, taught, worked, conquered sin and won for God in the same spirit whom we may have today.

HOLY SPIRIT AND ANOINTING: HOLY SPIRIT IN THE LIFE AND MINISTRY OF OUR LORD

In the incarnation of Christ, he was total man and total God. However, He suspend his divine attributes while he was here and did not use it for a single day – Phil. 2: 5-6; Mat. 24: 36. He would therefore have to depend on the holy spirit for all he would accomplish here on earth.

1. Jesus Christ was begotten of the holy spirit- Luke 1: 35, Mat. 1: 18-20.

The holy spirit was the agent of the father in the incarnation f the son. If the overshadowing of the holy spirit produce Christ through Mary, how we need him t overshadow us and produce Christ in us today.

2. Christ ‘was prophesied by the holy spirit Heh.10:7 Luke24:26-27; John 5:39.

3. He was anointed b the hoy spirit- Luke 3:21-22; Matt3: 13-17, Luke 4:1

4. He was led by the spirit – Mat. 4:1; Luke 4:1

5. He was baptized by the spirit- Matt. 3: 16, Luke 4:1

6. He was full of the spirit – John 1: 33 He has the spirit in measureless fullness

7. He offered himself and die for sinners by the spirit. Heb. 9: 14

The Bible is the sword of the spirit – Eph. 6:17. The word alone is not enough. Truth without the power of the spirit will deaden as much as error. We need the Spirit to quicken the word. – 1Cor. 2:4-5; 2Cor. 3:3,5-6. Our Prayer is to be by the Spirit to be effective. So, then everything boils down to the holy spirit – Jude 20; Rom. 8:26; Eph. 6:18. Story of the devil was seen in a dream preaching Christ, and after enquiry states that he has discovered that preaching without Holy spirit anointing kills as much as error.

It is now evidently clear that Jesus did was through the power of the holy spirit. He lived, prayed, worked and conquered the power of demons and Satan triumphantly through the power of the holy spirit. The same power and person is with us today in our conflict to day with sin and Satan. Through the spirit, we can offer ourselves to God without spot and wrinkle as the Lord did. Heb. 9:13, Eph. 5:26-27.

The same spirit that enables our Lord to do all that he did is the one that has been given t us on Pentecost day. He is ready to work in great power today if anyone will recognize, love, welcome, cherish, adore and commune with him today. But the trouble with us is that we treat him just as an experience and not a person.
